The Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, Zao Lan LIU of Sydney, Australia was graduated from the Xin Xiang Medical University of China (Originally, it was Yu Bei Medical Specialty University of Henan Province) in 1965.

After graduation, she entered a city graded comprehensive hospital to begin her life long career in the clinical treatments and research in Liver, Gall Bladder, Internal Digestive Medicine and all kinds of infectious diseases. In 1976, in order to better apply the need of more suitable clinical treatments and to supplement the insufficiency of the skills and knowledge of unitary wester medicine, she studied again for the advance theory of Traditional Chinese Medicinal Pharmacology (Advanced Training Course in Traditional Chinese Medicine for Western Medicine trained Doctors of Henan Province) for 2 years. Since then, during the long term career of medical practice and scientific research of medicinal pharmacology, she continues combine and amalgamate the pharmaceutical of Western of Traditional theory Medicine and the knowledge Chinese Herbal Medicine. This has enabled her to, like walking solidly with her two legs, completely fulfill her clinical treatment with obvious elevation of her effectiveness during the course of clinical treatments of the diseases. As such, she worked for 30 years ln China, She was not only a distinctive clinician, but was also an enthusiast in scientific medical research and teaching. She has won many provincial and municipal awards in scientific medical research. and published thesis. Due to her outstanding performance in medical teaching, she was among the Grst group of people who were promoted to become a Deputy Chief Medical Officer by the Department of Hea1th of Henan Provincial Government in 1986, and was also appointed as the Chief Medical officer for the City Hospital and as the Associate Professor for the Kai Feng Medical

University.

In 1992, she was invited to visit Kazakhstan and Russia as a visiting Chinese Medicine Scholar.

On 19^th February l995 Zao Lan LIU was invited by the Australian Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Academy during a conference titled “Sydney Chinese Medicine Academic Reporting Conference 1995” to present a thesis of her research, <The research of “Asragalus Membranaceous with enriched Selenium'' ln the treatment of Liver diseases>. It was highly endorsed by the medical counterparts.

The beautiful environment of Australia and its natural human surroundings have made Zao Lan LIU to fall in love with Sydney and Australia. So, she decided to stay in Sydney and to begin a new page of her second stage of career in clinical practice. In Australia, she incorporated and opened a Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic - Zao Lan Herbs Pty Ltd. She has also since studied Herbal Pharmacology in Western Medicine'' and Nutrition''.

In order to improve and consolidate further her skills and knowledge in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, she enrolled and studied for the Master Degree of Applied Science in Acupuncture for three years at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT University). She has completed and graduated from the course in accordance with the schedule and has been conferred with a Master Degree for that course.

In recent years, she has combined the essence of her practical and theoretical  knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine through all the systematic professional learning and her own western and oriental clinical experiences in China and Sydney in the last forty odd years. She has formulated with her evaluated experience a series of prescriptions for the treatments of gall bladder, liver and digestive diseases. These useful and very safe herbal medicinal prescriptions are gradually accredited by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of the Australian Department of Health and Ageing. Currently, it has now become a series of Zao Lan branded Australian pure and natural herbal productions. It is widely applied and used for the prevention and treatments of Liver. Gall Bladder and Digestive System diseases', and has also won reputable praises from the general public. From 2002 to 2004, she was also appointed as Honorary Professor by the Henan Traditional Chinese Medicine University.

Also, in the last ten odd years since 1998, she has been the guest hostess speaker for the Sydney Chinese Radio Station, talking about medicine for twice a week with thirty minutes for each session. She answers all kinds of health related questions and issues raised by the audience live on line. She also teaches the audience the most simple and effective preventive methods. She is welcome and beloved by her audience. Every year Her audience has voted her program as the most popular program of the radio station.
