The basic idea behind Property imvestment is to allow the taxation department to help finance the repayment of the interest only home loan that you setup for the purchase of the investment property. The purchase of the property enables you to declare the interest payments as a legal deduction against your regular income for which you normally pay income tax. For example If your income is $1000 per week and you pay 30% tax then you pay $300 to the gov. now if you have a home loan of $300 per week then your taxable income in now $1000-$300 = $700 and the tax on $700 @ 30% = $210 That a saving of $90 per week. Add this to the rent recieved and you could have the total repayment. say $260 per week rent Plus $90 is $350 more than enough for the repayment.
